#FiveOnFriday is an original, weekly feature on NightOwlReader.com. Each week I talk about favorite books, anticipated reads, and other bookish topics. Enjoy!
It’s been a while since I have done a recommendation post, so for today’s #FiveOnFriday, I have 5 recently released (within the last month or so) romances that I have read and can’t recommend enough.
Friends-to-lovers and sports romances seem to be the tropes I am drawn to these days, so be prepared!
Let me know if you have read any of these and what you thought. If you haven’t read them, I hope you’ll consider putting them on your TBR!

Contemporary Romance (Friends-to-Lovers)
My Rating: 5 stars
Lauren Blakely knows all about romance with dirty-talking heroes. Turns out, she also knows how to write funny dirty-talking romance. I loved the story, the writing, and the characters. Spencer was a great MC and had everything I look for in a male POV romance: cockiness, hotness, humor, and humility. I am looking forward to reading about Spencer’s sister and his best friend in Mister [email protected]

[/ezcol_1third][ezcol_2third_end]The Mother Road by Meghan Quinn
Romantic Comedy (Friends-to-Lovers)
My Rating: 5 stars
Oh, this book. The Mother Road had me laughing so hard I could hardly breathe. The comedy is so hilarious, I think it might be the funniest book I have ever read. I mean, three men, one woman, a 1980’s RV, and a week-long road trip…what could possibly go wrong?? Lest you think it is all comedy, there are also some touching family moments and plenty of heat in the form of family friend (and Marley’s life-long crush), Porter. I plan to read the rest of Meghan Quinn’s books ASAP.

[/ezcol_1third][ezcol_2third_end]Appealed by Emma Chase
Contemporary Romance (Friends-to-Enemies-to-Lovers)
My Rating: 5 stars
Appealed is the third and final book in the Legal Briefs series. I was a little sad to see the end of the road for all of the characters, but I definitely loved getting there! Brent and Kennedy have a complicated relationship–first as friends, then enemies, then, finally, as lovers. Having Brent’s story and seeing him with a girlfriend was worth the wait. Also, the epilogue is very cute and perfect for the ending.
If you haven’t read this series yet, I would recommend starting with Overruled (even though they are interconnected standalones). You need to experience this one from the very beginning, and I promise you don’t want to miss any of the books!

[ezcol_1third][/ezcol_1third][ezcol_2third_end]Pucked Over by Helena Hunting
Sports Romance
My Rating: 5 stars
I had been waiting for Randy Ballistic’s story and Helena Hunting did not disappoint! Randy and Lily are a fantastic couple and their road to happiness is a bumpy one. I know that some people think that the humor is a little over the top in the first two books, but I promise it is toned down in this one. Pucked Over is still very funny, but Randy and Lily are more subdued and it is reflected in the writing. It’s definitely my favorite of the series…so far, anyway!

[ezcol_1third][/ezcol_1third][ezcol_2third_end]The Score by Elle Kennedy
Sports Romance
My Rating: 5 stars
Another favorite in a series and another Book #3 (kinda weird). I didn’t think I would like The Score more than I did The Deal, but I decidedly did. I loved Dean and his man-whore ways. Seeing Allie ‘tame the bad boy’ is both funny and sweet. I think Allie is a strong and realistic heroine–one who isn’t ashamed of her body or her sexuality, and it was refreshing to see, actually. There’s also a great twist ending, which makes me want to read the next book immediately. Unfortunately, we have to wait until September. That’s ok, though, because I am sure it will be worth the wait.
