When it comes to versatile authors, KA Tucker is at the top of my list. She does romantic comedies as well as she writes romantic suspense and everything in between. This is my fifteenth book by her, and I’m not sure I’ll ever tire of reading her stories.
The second book in the Polson Falls series focuses on Justine, Scarlet’s best friend from Boston. She has taken up permanent squatter status in Scarlet’s guest room after her long-time—and loser—fiancé dumped her for another woman. Justine is loud, she’s brash, and she’s a force to be reckoned with.
While working at a local appliance shop, Justine helps a new-to-town customer who is just too perfect to be true. Turns out he is. Garrett is a developer who is planning to buy the buildings in downtown Polson to strip their character and transform them into condos. Justine and her geriatric friends are having none of that and wage war on Garrett from the moment they discover his identity.
Justine is as hilarious as Garrett is serious. Once they decide to wave the white flag and call a truce in their development war, all bets are off. They may be complete opposites, but the chemistry between them is highly combustible—even though they fight the attraction throughout much of the story.
The Hustler Next Door showcases more of the quirky town and its residents, plus it shows the fight small towns face between preserving their history and traditions and modernizing to stay with the times.
The secondary characters in The Hustler Next Door are a hoot (and sometimes actually outshined even Justine). While getting a closer look at the town and its inhabitants is highly entertaining, you definitely don’t want to miss Justine’s snarky humor or her big heart.
Thank you for the advanced copy of THE HUSTLER NEXT DOOR by KA Tucker. All opinions are my own.

Justine MacDermott is in what she would call a transition period: squatting in her best friend’s house and working in an appliance store in Polson Falls while the man she was supposed to marry starts a new life with someone else.
She’s definitely not thinking about slashing his tires and wishing his vital extremities would fall off.
When newcomer Garrett Harrington strolls into Murphy’s looking to buy a refrigerator, Justine convinces herself she’s found her rebound. Or the next love of her life. Either works. But a chance encounter leads her to discover that Garrett isn’t who he made himself out to be, and he’s more interested in hustling her kindly old boss out of his family business—and using her to do it.
Furious at being fooled by yet another man and itching for retribution, Justine enlists the help of unlikely townsfolk to battle Harrington Group’s big-city development plans for Polson Falls.
It’s all going to plan … until Justine finds herself crossing enemy lines.
