A Little Too Late Review

The Madigan Mountain series kicks off with A Little Too Late by Sarina Bowen, giving us a glimpse into the complicated, slightly somber history of the Madigan family and their mountaintop ski resort.

(Books two and three, written by Rebecca Yarros and Devney Perry, feature Reed’s estranged brothers)

A Little Too Late Summary

Reed and Ava’s story began in college, where they had a fairytale romance that ended with him breaking her heart.

Ten years later, workaholic Reed is back at his father’s ski resort after learning that he intends to sell it and retire. He’s in for the shock of his life when none other than Ava is not only there but working for Reed’s father.

Neither Reed nor Ava is prepared for the onslaught of unresolved feelings and undeniable chemistry they still have a decade later. Both are dedicated to their jobs, so joining forces to make sure the sale is on the up and up makes perfect sense.

What they didn’t expect was to fall in love all over again.

Low-Angst Second Chance Romance

Reed and Ava have a lot of baggage to work through, and while they do, their friends and family are the perfect sounding boards. I loved every off-beat character, from the angry bartender to the plucky assistant to the happy-go-lucky animal control guy.

Reed’s family bonds are strained, Ava is trying to make sure she has a place in the new company, and the town wants to make sure their best interests are taken to heart, which makes the perfect combination of heartwarming teamwork and broken heart-repairing romance.

I can’t wait to return to Madigan Mountain in Rebecca Yarros and A Little Too Wild.

About the Audiobook:

I listened to this as an advanced audiobook and enjoyed every minute of the narration by the iconic duo, Andi Arndt and Sebastian York.  Their performances are outstanding as usual, allowing listeners to feel every emotion and nuance in the storyline.  Highly recommend!

A Little Too Late by Sarina Bowen

How to behave when the guy who broke your heart two thousand miles away turns up in your office:

One: Don’t drop your lucky coffee cup in shock, even though it’s been ten years.

Two: Don’t get defensive when he asks how you ended up working his family’s ski mountain… and why you kept it a secret.

Three: Give him the worst room in the resort. He deserves it for suddenly waltzing back in like he owns the place. (Which he kind of does.)

Four, five, six, seven, eight and nine: Do not kiss him in the hot tub.

Ten: Try to keep your heart intact after you break all of your rules.

Because Reed is leaving again. Hate can’t turn back into love. And it’s a little too late…
