Bittersweet

Review of Bittersweet

Have you ever read a book that you really liked, so much so that it is hard to put your feelings into words?  Well, this is one of those books for me.  So, here goes:

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK!

Yup, that pretty much sums up my feelings on Bittersweet.  I loved the characters, the setting, the writing, and the feelings this book gave me.

You know that swoopy/swoony feeling that makes your stomach take a dip?  I totally got that from this book.  I also had a grin on my face for hours after I finished reading it.  You know those are signs of a good book.

Bittersweet Summary

Audrey and Griffin have a short fling in college, but the timing wasn’t right for them to have more.

Fast forward five years and Audrey is an intern for a restaurant conglomerate.  She is sent to Vermont to source produce for a farm-to-table concept and who does she run into?  Griffin, of course.

Griffin is a former football player who never had a chance to make it to the big leagues.  His father’s death took away his choice and he had to go back to Vermont to run the family farm.

When Audrey’s car winds up in his ditch, he knows that it is a second-chance that he can’t let slip through his fingers this time.

Grumpy/Sunshine Romance to the Max!

I adored both Audrey and Griffin.  Audrey is effervescent and perky, even when dealing with a grumpy Griffin or her horrible overbearing mother.  She perseveres where others would back down or quit.

Griffin is gruff at times, but he is hardworking, patient, and protective of those he loves. I found him to be quite endearing and swoon-inducing.  I loved him!  Oh, and their chemistry together?  Combustible!

Bittersweet has heart, humor, and heat, which makes it a home run on my “Triple-H Scoring Sheet”.  It’s the perfect balance of sweetness to tannins with a big scoop of comfort food on the side—and I can’t wait for another helping!

Thank you for the advanced copy of BITTERSWEET by Sarina Bowen.  All opinions are my own.

Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen, the first book in the True North series, is a second chance romance between a grumpy farmer and a plucky chef that will have you falling in love with Vermont!

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.
