Review of The Simple Wild
With just one glimpse at the gorgeous cover of The Simple Wild, I knew that I would love it—I just didn’t know how head-over-heels in love I would be by the end.
KA Tucker is already a must read author for me, but I absolutely adored The Simple Wild. Like, shout-from-the-rooftops kind of love.
By the way, don’t let the aforementioned beautiful and tranquil cover deceive you. This book is anything but simple, and filled to the brim with heartfelt emotions, deep feelings, unconditional love between a parent and a child, and delicious opposites-attract slow-burning romance.
This may sound cheesy, but it made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made my heart sing. Once I finished, I was immediately ready to read it all over again. That fact right there is probably the highest praise I can give this book.
The Simple Wild Summary
Calla Fletcher is a twenty-something with an unfulfilling and somewhat superficial life in Toronto. She’s never been close to her father, a bush pilot in Alaska, but once she gets a life-altering phone call, she decides that it’s time to change all that.
What’s meant to be a couple of days of reconnecting with her father turns into something that Calla is wholly unprepared to deal with.
Jonah is Calla’s complete opposite; he’s daring and brash, he speaks his mind, and he’s not afraid of taking risks. He’s been through thick and thin with Calla’s father, so Jonah is a great source of insight for her while she’s visiting.
He also has no problem breaking down every one of Calla’s preconceived notions about Alaska, the people who reside there, and more importantly, her father and the choices he’s made.
This makes for some delightful bickering and tension that I couldn’t get enough of.
Opposites Attract Slow Burn Romance
There are so many wonderful characters who make up this unforgettable story. Each one seems to be coming to terms with the past and embracing the future in one way or another.
The vivid imagery helps to immerse you into the scenery and the powerful writing helps this story burrow its way into your heart.
This is KA Tucker at her very best and I honestly can’t recommend The Simple Wild highly enough.

And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.
Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.
